I’ve been a NYDJ fan for years. Ordered two pair, black and mahogany, in the Marilyn straight in bull denim. Really like the high natural fiber content (98%cotton/2% elastin for the black, 97% cotton/3% elastin for the mahogany) and that they are made in USA (of imported fabric). Both colors are good, saturated and more dressy than regular jeans. Not as happy with the fit. These fit loose through the waist but actually feel small because they don’t come up as high in the back as other Marilyns that I have purchased in the past. They are also ~31.75” inseam (before washing), not 33” as stated in the description. I pulled out all my Marilyns to compare other high cotton content pants to these: the older Marilyn slim and bootcut fit higher in the waist, are actually 33” long and fit (and look) great; one Marilyn straight bought last year is like the two new pair, and one fits more in between: higher in the back but not quite as long as my older pants - this was my go to long pant this summer as the shorter length was OK with short sandals. I was hoping to get another pair like it but clearly NYDJ has chosen to go with the other fit, so both new pair are going back. I can only say that I hope NYDJ brings back the Marilyn fit that we raved about. Two stars for the fabric, plus one for being made in USA.bought NYDJ Marilyn in "mahogany" brown in 2014. i was 120 lbs and size 4 fit like a glove. Made in USA. so this past March, 2017, i cut sugar from my diet and discovered that now at 110 lbs, i had de-sugared my way out of some of my favourite dark wash jeans, mostly St Johns Bay and Vera Wang, also size 4. a good boiling wash & hot setting dry helped, but not perfect. BUT the brown NYDJ still fit like a glove. so, ignoring the "buy one size smaller" advise [i just had a feeling] i ordered 3 NYDJ "Marilyn" size 4 still, 2 in "foley" [which is some sort of dark wash] 1 in black, and all 3, also Made in USA....... fit like a glove. i have no explanation why others need a size down OR why the brown Marilyns from 3 years ago still fit the same after dropping 10 lbs, other than the cliche'.............no 2 pair of the same jeans ever fit the same. at any rate, these dark wash "foley" were about 1/2 what i paid for the "mahogany" and i am SOLD forever on NYDJ.Normally I try on 5 different pairs of the same size to find the right fit, of 50 different styles of jeans, before I find the right pair. I'm picky. These fit just right in all of the right places. Long enough (I'm 5'9") but not too long, enough of a stretch to sit in a car for a long drive without cutting into your legs, and just high enough in the waist to control the slight muffin top without looking like a mom jean. I'm in between a US 8 & 10, and the 8 fit perfectly right out of the bag. They might stretch out too much over time, but my out of the box experience was great. I bought another pair in another color straight away. I'm thrilled to see the return of straight leg jeans after a decade of skinny's. Hoping the stretch fabric isn't too stretchy to sag after a couple of washings, time will tell. If so, I feel like I could go down another size and feel like they will still fit in all of the right places.I originally gave a rating of three stars, but have since reconsidered because I do love the fabric and colors. However, I would suggest considering a size smaller and being prepared to hem these slacks as needed. Thinking I would just shrink them to the correct size, I washed them in hot water and dried them thoroughly in the dryer. Naturally, they didn't shrink (or not enough). But I can wear them. However, they are too long. I continue to work on hemming these and the brown ones I received earlier (those are really long). I hate hemming. I think part of the problem is that these are just too big overall. I have others, same size, perfect fit. In measuring everything I have, I found that lengths vary considerably. Some can be worn anyway; others are being adjusted, from an inch to 2 1/2 inches. Just be prepared when you order. These jeans fit well, and have laundered well... I have not worn them yet, so, I am unable to comment on how they hold-up-to wear. The denim has less stretch than other jeans, which I appreciate, because it feels more substantial, as if it will last longer... but, they are new, and have not stood the test of time. I also appreciate the fact that they are very plain, there is no embroidery, so they seem more neutral, and can be worn with anything. The back pockets are quite large, but, will be covered by most tops. They are very expensive, so, I hope they last. I am not one who likes to try different jeans, but, because of the diminished quality of the jeans I usually wear, gave these a try... I'm glad I did, and, if they wear well, I will continue to pay the price. I hope I get the opportunity to write another review for these jeans, in a few months. These jeans fit just fine when I purchased them but I put them aside looking for a top I wanted and in the meantime, I went down almost 2 sizes. Therefore, I haven't worn the jeans. I have used other Marilyn NYDJ's in other colors and they are very comfortable, fit perfectly, and are of extra good fabric. They likely will last for years. I am and have always been pleased with NYDJ's Too bad about the weight (in one way), and too it is good to be what I was when I was in my 20's. I would recommend NYDJ's because one can find the style, the colors, and the fit they want.I love these jeans as they have a slim fit for my legs and yet still works for my waist and hips which have increased over the years. The length is perfect for me as I'm 5 ft, 7 1/2 in tall. You do have to order a size down from the size you normally wear. They do intend to stretch as you wear them. Because they are pricey, I do take extra care of them--turning them inside out to wash using a detergent for dark clothes and hanging them to dry as they do have lycra in them and this helps to prolong the life of that fiber. I do press them and wear them a couple of times if I had them on for a short period of time before laundering. This will also help prolong their life span. They arrived promptly as I am a prime subscriber and I could tell they were in the original packaging. I was pleased and would make this purchase.Absolutely fantastic. Love these jeans.have been sent backas legs were too wideGood material but they are large. Hope they will shrinkhad just bought a pair of NYDJ at the store, loved the fit but were expensive so when they were on sale on line i thought it would be safe to order the same model and size in a different colour - wrong when they arrived, they were 2 inches too long and too big! Not anything like the pair i bought in the store - very frustrating!!Love these pants color fit everything
